Education Technology Philosophy

We are living in an advance technological era and technology use in the classroom can meet the needs of these developmental changes, especially exploration, changing styles of play and  students working at their own pace.

Technology will bring a whole new world of educational resources and teaching aids into the classroom. Movies, film clips, museums, primary source documents, and so much more are easily available with the click of a button and all the sound, color and real life experiences come streaming into the classroom. These resources will be used to enhance the teaching of standards, to provide an alternative teaching strategy for a struggling learner and to enrich the educational development of more advanced students.

Technology will play the role of enhancing  individual growth and learning in my classroom. Students learn in many ways and in different time frames. Technology will provide differentiation in the classroom, giving all students the opportunity for success by allowing them to work through project concepts at their own pace. It can give help to disabled students or students with learning disabilities and also easily enrich  the advanced students.

I will use technology to prepare my students for the future. Technology skills are essential for the 21st- century. Previous job may have not used technology but presently it may have at least one technological component. It's about preparing my students to collaborate with others, solve complex problems, exposing them to critical thinking, developing different forms of communication and leadership skills, and improving motivation and production. Exposing and exploring technology in the classroom will develop many practical skills including creating presentations, learning to differentiate reliable from unreliable sources on the internet, maintaining proper online etiquette and writing emails. Educational technology in the classroom will prepare my students for the future and equip them with the necessary tools to stay on par with an expanding digital economy.

Communication is very vital when acquiring a smooth and productive flow of student learning and parental involvement. It is not only about me try to reach my students but their parents too. Most times parent are not aware of what is happening in the school or classroom. I can use technology to improve the two-way communication from school to home. Parents can easily be kept informed about what is happening in the classroom, students can share their projects with their parents and I can communicate through skype to clarify or guide both parties as to what is expected to complete task. That student will feel relaxed and motivated to complete task because not only am I helping but his/her parents are involved in their learning. It shows they have interest.

Technology will make my job easier, less time consuming and more effective. There are several online resources that can facilitate my teaching process. There are virtual lesson planners, grading software etc. students knowledge can easily and quickly be assessed using polling software. These will allow me to push out questions to students devices and answers can be collected within minutes. The percentage of correct responses automatically calculated. With this weak areas can be easily identified and worked on further.
